Current Exchange Rates
This page was originally a list of historical exchange rates for the US $ against the Thai baht. That info can still be found below. But a recent thread on a forum quoting various exchange rates reminded me how useless most of those rates are. TT rates, for example, have nothing to do with what you’ll get on the streets of Bangkok (well, they do, but that’s not the rate you’ll find at your local money exchange shop).
So I’m providing ya’ll with a link to a website that posts the actual rates being offered at about 30 different banks and exchange shops in Bangkok. It’s current. And updated several times each business day. Not only will this list give you an accurate current rate, but you can see the rates that are being offered at different locations. Sometimes it pays to shop around and get the most favorable rate. Especially when exchanging large sums of money:

I’ve used the site while in Bangkok to verify it’s accuracy. And while I usually head over to Super Rich in Pratunam to exchange cash (they always offer the best rates on larrge bills), for smaller amounts the site’s list will usually clue me in to a closer location that still has decent rates.
All you need to do is enter the appropriate currency in the box provided; for those outside of the U.S., you can get rates for your currency too.
You’re welcome.

Walking away from Rama IV on the r/h side, there is a small money kiosk on Silom just a few steps from the BTS stairs (Duangthip Bldg?) that consistently offers better rates than the banks. He only buys foreign currency, does not sell.
The bldg is connected to BTS with a footbridge and hosts KFC, Subway & Pizza Hut.
I have also seen some favourable rates in some of the bank-fronts in MBK.

There’s an exchange place in MBK tucked into the corner just as you exit Tokyu from the BTS entrance to the mall that always offers a slightly better rate than those on the ground floor of the mall.
I’ll have to check out the place on Silom – it’d be nice to have a convenient exchange place by Patpong for my first night in town.

Thaniya Plaza, exchange booth almost opposite O’Reilly’s. Very handy.

I’ve never used that one. Will have to check their rates next time. Thanks Al!
