With another year freshly pressed, I thought it was interesting to see where visitors to my blog came from, how they got here, what they read and commented on, and what they clicked on over the last year. No surprise, Channing Tatum’s penis is huge. At least the interest in it is. And as fine of a penis as I’m sure it is, it’s been gratifying to see the interest in the aggregate peni of the world’s top athletes has routinely been knocking Chan’s best buddy off of it’s former #1 spot on the list of Top Posts & Pages this year. I didn’t need WordPress’ Annual Stats Report to know of the world’s fascination with Channing’s talents, but some of the other statistics were unexpected, and in case you are into numbers, I thought I’d share.
The busiest day in 2012 was August 1st with 31,500 views. I could go back and check, but I’m guessing that had something to do with the Olympics. And knowing how thrilled Hendrik was with that coverage, I suspect a few thousand of those visits were thanks to him popping back on to make sure he didn’t miss out on any of my articles on the Olympics. The slowest day was almost a full year ago, January 11th, with a mere 1,328 views. But then a year ago in January the average daily visitor count was 1,518. By the end of 2012 that had gone up to a daily average of 6,587.
A bit slow off the mark, WordPress only began tracking the country viewers came from at the end of last February. In 2012, most readers hailed form the U.S. (676,779) with the U.K. claiming the #2 spot (231.568), and my Aussie friends narrowly beating out Thailand with a head count of 83,028 and 81,717, respectively. Surfers from 204 countries have dropped by this year; 40 of them were from Réunion, which I’ve never even heard of – I checked for you: it’s an island nation and also an overseas territory of France located off the southern part of the African continent. And I only managed to draw a single visitor from both Gabon and Uzbekistan. Ditto for Vatican City, but I’m assuming that was the Pope, so that’s almost like having God visit my blog.
Search engines brought the highest number of new visitors to my blog last year (697,580). The top search queries were ‘channing tatum gay’ (42,592) ‘Danell Leyva gay’ (30,355) and ‘Louis Smith gay’ (27,119). Facebook – which I’m not on – brought in an additional 4,297 visitors, while a link to my blog on Blind Item Rehash brought the third highest number of new surfers (3,701). Links on the Huffington Post (595) and Towleroad (474) were also responsible for lots of visitors not interested in Thailand related post, but of those Dreadedned (603), Gay In Chiang Mai (998), and 1Stop Bangkok (581) sent over more than any of the message boards SGT (574), Gay Thailand (275) Jabba’s little corner of the internet (173).
Once on my site, It’s A Gay World, Dancing With The Devil, and Thailand Tips and Tales were the most popular categories, and That’s Gay, Movies and Television, and Nude Dudes were the most popular tags. Readers viewing my home page, my post on Naked Olympic Athletes Celebrating The London Games, and those wanting to know mor about Channing tatum’s penis got the heaviest amount of traffic, so I’ve removed those three from the rest of the following (‘cuz Chan’s penis really doesn’t need anymore advertising):

With over 1,400 posts, there’s a lot to choose from, and while it’s nice to see visitors dropping by for the non-Thailand related articles, it is the 683 average daily return visitors that I appreciate the most so I’ll continue posting more articles about SE Asia than any others (except for pix of naked dudes. ‘Cuz who (besides Boo Hoo) doesn’t love pix of naked dudes?
I am surprised none of the Ubiquitous Plastic Stool posts made the any of the lists though, and am a little surprised my articles on the Olympics still continue to draw so many visitors. But fret not Hendrik, we’re still two years away from the next Games . . .

Congratulations, these are impressive statistics! And thanks a lot for sharing them with us. 🙂

Thanks Alex. I think the most impressive stat is the 9.5 one at the top of this post . . .

What, It’s not just the two of us?
Congrats on the great numbers, and thanks for helping me maintain my snark levels for the year, now that my bff has up and moved to Fresno. Oh the humanity!!

Thanks Jeffrey.
Sorry to hear your friend moved away.
Assuming he is young, cute, and in need of solace, um, ya know Fresno is only 45 minutes from me . . . (and that’s not an invitation for you to visit)
🙂
Yup, I’m all about sharing your pain . . .

I thought this blog was an exclusive haven of gentlemen with an acquired taste, now I found out the Olympic Games brought the rifraf in.

Blame it on Channing’s penis. From what I’ve read that puppy can take the hit.

What took you so long?

Statistics need to be interpreted: 1 August is Swiss national day, where the Thai king spend some years of his youth. 31,500 is the number of buffaloes supported by farang greater than the the total buffalo population…which means god knows (and he almost reads your blog) …I give up.
Really just wanted to say 108 thanks for all your posts, bits and pieces and of course the pics!

Ah! I forgot about the farang supported buffalo demographic!
Thanks for the compliment Oro, and for the laugh!
