lei day 1

Today is Lei Day in Hawaii. Which is a good excuse for me to post a picture of a hot island boy. It’s also Labor Day in Thailand. Which, I think, I covered with the photo below along with covering my original title for today’s post which was Playing With Myself. But Happy Lei Day! sounded more festive. At least for you. Today is also Batman Day (no, really) and I think that photo covers that celebration too. And while it may be a bit of a stretch I think it works for National Purebred Dog Day too – which is also May 1st – if you want to give the mutts of the world their due.

The original masturbatory theme for this post was due to my buying a new computer yesterday. So it was more about playing with computers than with myself though for many those are one and the same thing. Though it was time for an upgrade I didn’t really need a new computer. I bought one – eh, sometime during the last year I’m gonna guess – and was so pissed that Windows 8 wouldn’t let me use my cherished graphics and wordprocessing programs that I stuck it on a shelf. I’m sure I whined about that here at the time of that purchase.

In any case, the only attention it’s received from me since then has been the occasional glare when I’ve walked past and noticed it. So I figured even though I wouldn’t be any happier with what Bill Gates has done over the last year, the joy of a new computer to play with might lessen those negative feelings a bit and buying a newer model sounded like the way to go. The salesman at the store almost dissuaded me of that notion.

Fortunately he was cute. He was also quite jazzed about telling me all of the wonderful things I could do by integrating my smartphone with my new computer. Which was pretty much everything my smartphone can do on its own. And I already have a tablet that’d pick up the slack of what it wouldn’t. Listening wasn’t his strong suit, so despite how many times I told him I wanted a computer for work and not play he kept pulling his phone out to show me yet another wonderful thing you could do remotely via phone. Idiot. Finally I told him the only interest I had in smartphones was his phone number. Which he gave me. That’s not a standard way for closing a sale, but when you’re young, cute, and brainless it evidently works.

None of which helps the problem of my not being able to use my cherished graphics and wordprocessing programs on Windows 8. But at least I have someone new to lessen the burden of my sorrows with over the weekend. In the meantime, I’m busy transferring files from one computer to two others ‘cuz until I man up and accept that I need to find new software I’ll use one for editing and the new one for posting while cussing at Bill Gates for forcing me to upgrade thanks to MicroSoft no longer supporting Windows XP. It’s a good thing Bill isn’t younger and cute or he’d owe me one too.
