The USA is off to a flying start winning the first gold medal at the Sochi Games thanks to Sage Kotsenburg’s killer performance in the first ever men’s snowboard slopestyle competition. As with my coverage of the London Games, I’ll be posting an award winning stud’s photo to honor each gold medal we win at Sochi, just in case you’re feeling the need to stand up and salute something.

So far, Putin will still have to pose in those shirtless shots he favors sans gold bling. Though he probably deserves a bronze medal for his opening ceremonies which proved Sochi ain’t no Beijing. I don’t know what he has planned for the Closing Ceremony, but if those giant snowflakes that are supposed to morph into the Olympic rings are part of the production again, here’s a hint: hire a Chinese engineer and get it right Papa Bear.
