Flashpack At Forty is the travel blog of Craig & John, a married couple from the UK who started their round the world trip in Australia in 2011 and have been on the road ever since. Flashpacking is “Backpacking with flash or style; travel that combines modest accommodation with free spending on activities and other indulgences; budget backpacking that incorporates high-end technology.” So it’s not about being a cheap bastard but rather travelling in value. With some truly spectacular photography, their site does a good job of laying out those things that may be of interest to you as a touri in numerous destinations including several in SE Asia. I’m linking to their article on KL ‘cuz I thought it captured Malaysia’s colorful capital city perfectly.
Don Pollard, a photographer who specializes in Asian male flesh that I was gonna feature this week has a really crappy website. So instead this link will take you to his portfolio on Model Mayhem. If you are not familiar with that site, well, there goes your weekend. You may need to toggle the Worksafe Mode to Off to see the good stuff.
The gCircuit Songkran party in Bangkok is just a month away and the promoter has put out a video filled with eye candy to encourage the hottest guys in SE Asia to show up again.
How To Have A Holiday Romance With A Local is a good, though basic, article on travel romances that is applicable anywhere in the world even if your grand love affair starts of as a commercial sex rendezvous.
Because a picture is worth a thousand words: Young gay hipster Adam’s photographic entry on his travel blog does a great job of showing why the Ratchada night market is worth a visit. And while it may be one of those Places In Thailand Jabba Has Never Heard Of, he should go and pick up a new pair of used clogs.
Oh, boo hoo. Neil Clark Warren the evangelical Christian founder and CEO of eHarmony says marriage equality ruined his internet dating site, though it sounds like his fellow bible thumpers are his bigger problem.
Today is Passport Day in the U.S., an annual observance during which no appointments or travel plans are necessary for getting or renewing a passport. The government decided to celebrate by issuing a statement that Department of State Passport Agencies will not be participating and will be instead closed for the day. I discovered that little gem after following a link to a new micro-site put up by the State Department that supposedly was to help gay travelers plan their world trips, complete with listings of gay rights and customs in countries around the world. It doesn’t. But the generalized warnings it does include are just as applicable if you are travelling within the country, especially to southern states, though I don’t think that was the intent. As for international travel its #1 piece of advice is that you should buy a good current guidebook that contains advice for LGBT travelers. Thanks for that.
No matter how familiar you are with the Big Mango, this cool little video gives you a perspective of the city seldom seen by anyone other than flying farang.
A Catholic priest has called on the Papal conclave to elect a gay man to be the next Pope to avoid an association with pedophilia. I know. But it still makes me giggle.

Yeah, the gCircuit will be extra hot this year, I will be there!
Electing a gay pope should be a no-brainer. Since popes aren’t allowed to marry anymore (Wikipedia claims the last married pope was Clement IV in the 13th century), you pretty much have to elect someone who just likes to fuck around instead of settling down. Most gays qualify.
