A Gay Banker’s blog may not be a site we’d all rush to read. But his post, An Enjoyable Night In Bangkok, contemplating the difference between a Bangkok moneyboy and a non-moneyboy who walks away with the same amount is a good read. As is his conclusion on the value of money well-spent.
Welcome to the USA. Now die. The world’s remaining superpower (depending on who you ask) may be a great place to live, but is an easier place to die. We didn’t even make it into the top 25 countries where life-expectancy is greatest. And if you live in Hong Kong you can add a bit more than two years to your life by taking the hydrofoil over to Macau, which came in as the second country whose residents live the longest. Thinking of moving to Thailand? That’ll cost you three years, but then there’s much to be said for quality over quantity. Oh, wait a minute . . .
I’ve been providing a link weekly to a photographer’s website who specializes in images of Asian guys. I thought I’d mix it up this week and instead lead you to an Expressionist painter’s site. If you haven’t run across Chris Coles’ work before, his subject matter will at least be familiar to you.
Yup, it’s that time of the year when the media tries to outdo itself with stories summing up the year that is about to end. The Best Of (fill in the blank) in 2012 is always a popular choice, the Worst of (fill in the blank) in 2012 is always a better read. GQ already got into the game by naming The Least Influential People in 2012. The good news is Mitt For Brains finally won something.
‘Tis the season when we become more socially active, hitting holiday parties and going out more frequently with friends and acquaintances (which I’m sure has more to do with how friendly of a guy you are than it does with upping your gift-getting opportunities). Whether that means taking straight friends to your favorite gay pub, or if you are one of those whiners, putting up with straight women in a gay gogo bar, you might want to print out this article, An Etiquette Guide for Straight People in Gay Bars, to hand out. Put a bow on it and the recipient will feel obligated to give you something in return. Yup, I’m always about the win-win.
There’s the one all the guide books lead you to, and then there’s the real one where you might run across your digital camera that moneyboy you picked up off the street last night stole from your hotel room: This week’s entry to the never-ending list of Places In Thailand Jabba Has Never Heard Of.
I know Khun Boo Hoo loves nothing more than stories of tragedy and death to perk up his holiday spirit, so this link is in his honor. I’m just not sure why this is news. LMTU has been making his home in similar facilities for years.
Huh. I keep hearing that tipping is not a Thai custom. Yet Thais are the biggest tippers in the Asian Pacific region. And the Japanese are the tightest tippers. The only non-surprising data in this visualization is that men tip more often and more than women.
Without naming names – because that would be totally unnecessary – there seems to be a rash of mental meltdowns on the gay Thailand forums recently. Okay, dementia is part of the aging process for some. And science has shown a correlation between being overweight and unhappy too. The latest news regarding the risk of becoming a demented poster foaming at the mouth is that your mental health may have more to do with your eating ability than your inability to quit stuffing your mouth. Fall on the wrong side and an apple a day will just drive you fuckin’ nuts.

watching people going fucking nuts about nothing gets boring after a while .. ive done 14 months reading/posting on boards now .. its gotten totally mundane .. even reading blogs gets a bit samey after a while (no offence) .. there really is nothing worse than having fem queens in places they shouldnt be acting up.. on a plane is one of those places .. i feel embarrassed for them as well as others on the plane .. so scottys blustering outrage at it all just makes him look like what he is .. a twat .. get a life and grow up would be my response to him ..
as for daboss .. dont mention the names of any bars you dont like or get short changed in or he could be sued, unless you are him then its ok, and at the beach rather than in a bar.. well until someone !! made him realise how that came across …
how the hell these people can go on year after year posting their sexploits and outrage about the same things over and over again makes you realise there are some seriously sad people in this world .. and most seem to be expats in thailand or from scotland.

Only 14 months?
It seems so much longer.
🙂
I doubt anyone would diagree that the forums have become quite dull. That’s what happens when you chase off anyone who doesn’t agree with you. I wasn’t sure which post you were talking about on the flying queens – tracked it down, and there’s a good example of opposing views that make for a good read. Even if the Scot was talking out of his ass again.

You provide a great alternative to the boards here. Always enjoy your writing!
Scottish Jerk seems to be more than out of touch with reality.

Excuse me, I am the tightest tipper here and I am no Japanese.
The waiters at Telephone Bar always put their black face on when I enter the soi. Where is that famous Thai Smile I ask.

You probably should just be glad there is no famous Thai grimace Hendrik!

And by the way, that gay banker is annoying! Better a tight tipper then a gay banker, me thinks.

Amazing…….this pose in the first photo is like an amazing offering.
I just had this really quick flash vision……..If I knew this dude and he had done something that annoyed me, I imagined that this was the position that he would take when trying to say that he was sorry (without actually saying that he was sorry). And of course, how could I stay annoyed when I’m looking at him in that position. My attention would change to the matter at hand.
See, your photos are even inducing fantasies.
Thanks.

I thought that was a totally submissive pose too Stry.
His fine body just makes it even that more inviting.

You don’t think Jabba reads your blog? It’s so rare for a know-it-all to admit he doesn’t know it all:

A friend told me about this museum today. I had never heard of it. It looks like quite an interesting place to visit:
