You don’t run across Buddhist nuns in Thailand often. In fact, the only nuns I can remember spotting were during a visit to Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai several years ago.

You will often find these nuns working in hospitals and similar places. They are accorded high respect by most Thai and personal contact is frowned upon. I have been told several times, “Do not touch the num … mai dee”.
Thanks Yraen, seems to be an obvious place to find nuns but I had not considered that. Now I just have to wonder what it is about you that causes people to keep reminding you to not touch the nuns.

You has best ask my bf; he is the one who insists that any kind of personal contact with a nun – even accidentally – is Not Good. 🙂
