As cool as the temples and chapels are at wats in SE Asia, I always look for the monks’ residences. Seldom are they as ornate as the religious buildings, but they are a great place to find a monk or two. Usually. No such luck at Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang, but the weathered structures were charming on their own and I still managed to find at least a hint of monk existence.
