I’ve been going through a bunch of old photos looking for a specific shot which is taking longer than expected ‘cuz I keep running across others I’d forgotten about, which in turn stirs pleasant memories of trips gone by. It also brings home that there are quite a few standard shots I take every time I visit a popular site with someone new in tow. Such as this one. This particular version is of my friend Damien from when we visited Wat Pho.
I don’t think I’ve ever taken someone to Wat Pho and not convinced them to pose next to the giant penis in the temple’s courtyard. Even though I know you are not supposed to be climbing on religious statues in wats. But I’m pretty sure that rule is about Buddhas and not peni. I do know that after I snap my shot all the other touri in the area quickly join in and climb on too. ‘Cuz a large penis tends to have that affect on people.

Hi Rush, as you know Bangkok inside out and seem to often have friends visiting, I was wondering whether you would be willing to post an item of interesting – and perhaps ‘off the tourist track’ – places to take friends who are visiting Bkk? (A couple of friends will be staying with me in a few months time and I am trying to work out interesting places to take them).

What I meant was a short guide, like an itinerary of unusual but intersting places to visit in Bkk! I could then search your blog for all the additional information and details.
