7 shots 1 #1

‘Member yesterday when I said I was gonna do seven 7 Shots of Reality posts instead of the beginning 7 shots series of posts I’d originally considered doing to provide me with some time to fix all the old ‘Other Related Posts’ links on my blog? Well, guess how many of those repairs got done. No, oh ye of little faith (aka you bastards), the correct answer is not 0. But it didn’t get into the triple digits either. So I’ve decided to mix my original idea of a series of 7 shots shots with my promised 7 Shots of Reality posts, hoping that’ll give me the time I need to fix those broken links.

Not that decision alone is gonna be all that successful. Today’s photo was easy. It’s one of the first I posted on this blog as well as the shot I use as my avatar. The other six will take some time in picking out. However you define ‘best’, with a few thousand photographs to choose from deciding which makes the final cut isn’t easy. Plus, being a Monk Shot! aficionado, that could end up being a half a dozen shots of saffron. Which would be okay except at some point in the future I’ll be doing a 7 Shot post of my favorite Monk Shot! photos which really should be different than my seven best SE Asian photos. Ah, well, that’s a conrundum for another day. Like Thursday.

As for today’s shot, it’s a good photo to start with not only because it is one of my favorites but because it exemplifies the type of photograph I tend to appreciate. For others, not so much. Most would probably toss this one out. To me it is an iconic shot of the Bangkok I know and love, while others would think a photo of the Grand Palace would be a better choice. But I’ve yet to see, or take, a photo of the Grand Palace that speaks to me as this one does. So get used to it. ‘Cuz there will probably be six more in the same vein to follow.
