One Last Ride

The naked guys with horses picture post I ran the other day, ostensibly about Mitt Romney’s Olympic dreams, left me with far too many of the aforementioned photographs as left-overs, though I’m sure I’ll find a reason to post them at sometime in the future. Not so with the one above, but a guy enjoying a toy horse seemed appropriate for Father’s Day – since I needed an excuse – and then I remembered what could be the perfect Father’s Day gift, at least for those who love daddies.

I doubt if today an American toy manufacturer could get away with marketing a toy like this. The idea of playing ‘horsie’ with a hot daddy may still appeal to many, but they’d have to be distributed through adult novelty stores instead of sold in the Sear & Roebuck catalog. Or so you’d think.

Kenner’s offered theirs, the Daddy Saddle, in 1965 as a toy the entire family could enjoy. But then that was back in the days of innocence. But you need not yearn for days gone by, a new and improved daddy saddle is now being marketed by Cashel as The Daddle and is available at Amazon.com for the low price of $34.74.

According to the manufacturer: “The Daddle makes the age-old horsy ride fun and easy while encouraging imaginative play. Complete with a soft saddle horn and adjustable stirrups, strap it on Daddy’s back to become the horse and give exciting daddyback rides. Knee pads are a must, so don’t forget them!”

While available from other on-line retailers too, you really need to check out Amazon’s listing for the reviews if nothing else. If you want to buy one you better hurry, they only have 4 left in stock:

If on the other hand you are looking for a Father’s Day gift, and not one to enjoy with your favorite daddy, anything that doesn’t end up requiring him to foot the bill will probably be appreciated. The wonders of technology did America’s fathers a good turn with the advent of the cell phone. Back when land lines were the only game in town, long distance charges were a part of the game. Father’s Day was the #1 day of the year for collect phone calls. And that pretty well sums up the holiday and the role of America’s dads.

Happy Father’s Day to those of you who are. And for the rest of you . . . find a hot daddy and make his day!
