Monk hunting is a surreptitious sport. Most are more than willing to pose for your camera, as long as you don’t touch them, but it’s just not the same as a photo taken on the sly. Sometimes the posed shots, however, are just too good to pass up – though that usually means someone else asked for the photo, so I still get in a snuck shot. This monk visiting Wat Rong Khun just outside of Chiang Rai agreed to one such request, and then had to stand there while touri after touri hustled over to take his picture. I guess Karma will do that to you sometimes . . .
