Monk shots can be tricky. It’s not like you just luck out and run across the perfect pose or setting every time. Sometimes I have to chase after a group of monks and wait for a suitable shot to emerge. I saw this group of young novices at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. We’d all just come out of the Silver Pagoda and they headed off toward the exit. There was a small set of stone stairs leading up to who knows what; their curiosity was aroused. And I got this real cool shot of them ascending into the light. Sometimes Monk hunting pays off.
