Golf is a popular sport throughout the world. Its origins can be traced back to Scotland, because when you wear a kilt, playing with your club and balls just comes naturally. While some would claim riding around in an electric cart should never be considered a sport, golf is nonetheless one of the events at the 17th Asian Games, primarily for spectators who find tennis too exciting. But since it’s already Day 3 of the Games, who has all the gold is what really matters.

So far, China is in the lead with 58 medals, including 26 gold, 14 silver, and 18 bronze. The host nation, South Korea, is in a distant second with 45 medals over all, 14 of which are gold. And Japan currently holds the third spot with 13 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze, giving them a total of 42 wins at the Games.

SE Asian countries are not real powerhouses at the Games, but have managed to snag a handful of medals. Burma, by another name, has won two golds; Vietnam has scored a total of seven medals; Malaysia won one gold and four overall; Indonesia has a total of four too, but no gold; ditto for Singapore; Laos has one silver; and, Thailand has won two bronze. And while it is not part of SE Asia, that Iran has won two gold medals in shooting should be of concern.
